Spring is here...We
are
keeping our fingers crossed
and hope the days of sitting
inside, looking out the
window and wondering
about blizzard warnings,
school delays, and other closings are behind us
until next winter.
Daylight savings time
took effect March 11 —-
several weeks earlier than usual.
As a result, it is
time to get outside and
enjoy the longer days and
the warmer weather we
hope that follows.
Spring also means the
opportunity to use our cars more and take longer trips.
After battling zero and
below temperatures, ice,
snow and numerous potholes, now it is time to take
your car or cars to
Nick's Precision Automotive for important seasonal
maintenance. |

Give your car a thorough
inspection
This means taking a good look at the underside of your
car and inspecting it for any rust or other corrosion
caused by the winter months. Winter’s salt and snow can
wreak havoc on the seldom seen parts of your car, and
the longer they go undiscovered, the more dangerous and
expensive they get. Also, pay close attention to your
fluid levels. See if you need to change or refill your
oil, wiper fluid, coolant and other lubricants to help
prepare your car for the warmer months. If you aren’t
comfortable evaluating the condition of your car
yourself, come in and talk to any one of our ASE
Certified Technicians at Nick's Precision Automotive. |

Nick's Precision
Automotive recommends the following maintenance tips for
spring:
►Check all fluids - There are several fluids, in addition
to the antifreeze, that require attention, including
engine oil, power steering, brake and transmission
fluids and windshield washer solvent and
antifreeze/coolant. For maximum engine life, change the
oil and filter every three months or 3,000 miles or as
directed in your owner's manual. Use specified oil grade
and weight.
►Check hoses and belts - A belt that fails can affect the
electrical system, air conditioning and power steering,
as well as the cooling system. Cooling system hoses may
be deteriorated from within, so old hoses and clamps in
marginal condition might need to be replaced.
►Check the tires - Check tire inflation and inspect the
tread for uneven wear, indicating the need for wheel
alignment. Also look for bulges and bald spots.
►Check the brakes - Now is a good time to check the
entire system, including brake linings, rotors and
drums.
►Change the wiper blades - Replace every six months or
when cracked, cut, torn, streaking or chattering. |
